For long distance, high belt speed and large capacity belt conveyor, its driving power is very large. If a driving unit is used to drive the whole belt, the unit power must be increased. According to the relevant information, some power up to 2000 kW (Fortuna mine, Germany), such a large power, the start-up and braking of the drive unit has become a very important issue, especially for the underground coal mine, and the intensity of the conveyor belt restricts its use. Multipoint drive can make up for this defect. Therefore, multipoint drive is widely used. It has created technologies such as multi-point rolling drive, linear friction drive, driving roller, pneumatic tire friction drive and linear motor drive. Secondly, in the multi-point drive, the speed-regulating hydraulic coupling should be used to realize the slow start of the conveyor, so as to reduce the sliding force of the material during the start, avoid the danger of rolling and damage the belt surface.
